TWO NEW DIATOM SPECIES IN THE GENUS TABULARIA FROM THE SWEDISH COAST

Two new epiphytic diatoms in the genus Tabularia (Kütz.) Williams & Round, Tabularia waernii sp. nov. and Tabularia ktenoeides sp. nov., are described from brackish waters on the Swedish coast. It is proposed to widen the definition of the genus Tabularia with respect to striae and valvocopula. These new species are discussed in relation to others within the genus. Ecological observations on the two new species are provided.
