The stringent alignment and manufacturing tolerances required for optical elements pose significant challenges in system development, often leading to increased production time and cost. As these errors are often coupled, a desensitization design method that can synthesize multiple errors is essential. In this paper, a multi-error desensitization design method (MDDM) is proposed based on an improved NSGA-II, which introduces a variable adaptive binary coding method and adaptive crossover and mutation probabilities. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the MDDM through its application to two distinct optical systems: a telephoto objective and a catadioptric telescope. The results reveal significant performance improvements over conventional optical design software approaches, with average sensitivity reductions of 28.1% and 19.2% for the respective systems.
