One-pot synthesis of 1,4-butanediol via the deep hydrogenation of maleic anhydride over Cu–xMo/SiO2 catalysts

A Cu–0.03Mo/SiO 2 catalyst realized the one-pot deep hydrogenation of maleic anhydride to 1,4-butanediol at 200 °C, under 5 MPa of hydrogen pressure with 100% conversion and 88.3% selectivity, one of the highest values for this target reaction.
