This "designers' manual" is made during the TIDO-course AR0533 Innovation & Sustainability.\n\nToday, a lot of people in the world live in earth dwellings. There are many different techniques for constructing solid walls of raw earth (adobe, bale, cob, mud wall, light clay, wattle and daub, earth bags, rammed earth etc.). Rammed earth is an ancient earth construction method of building monolithic elements by compacting earth into forms. This manual explains what rammed earth is, why to use it, and the advantages and disadvantages when building with it. Also possible restrictions and limitations in building location and builder are discussed. Finally, the method how one can build efficiently with this natural element is discussed.
