On the revaluation of Silene staminea Bertol. (Caryophyllaceae)

Summary In the first part of the work the authors proceed to the lectotypification of the names: Silene roemeri Friv. and Silene staminea Bertol. The absence of overlap in the variability between the Balkan and Italian populations of the Silene roemeri group is demonstrated by statistic methods. Thus the Apennine populations are interpreted as a separate species with the name Silene staminea Bertol.
