Research on the method for synthesizing thiodiglycolic acid

In this paper we proposed a way of synthesizing thiodiglycolic acid with chloroacetic acid and sodium sulfide as the raw materials. First of all,add bases into the chloroacetic acid to neutralize, so it changed into sodium chloroacetate. Then use sodium chloroacetate and sodium sulfide as the reactants to produce sulfo-sodium diacetate. And after acidifying sulfo-sodium diacetate,thiodiglycolic acid is born. Purity is 95%, productivity is 76%.The reaction takes place at the temperature of 45℃ and under the condition of pH=8.5,it will complete in 5 hours.
