Study on pentaerythritol ester of modified rosin for hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive

Using pentaerythritol ester of rosin,disproportionated rosin and hydrogenated rosin as the tackifiers,the influence of the tackifiers on appearance,mechanical properties and use temperature of the hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive was studied.The experiment results showed that the pentaerythritol esters of pure and modified rosins have good compatibility with thermoplastic elastomer SBS but they have different influence on the HMPSA performance as follows:the order of initial tack was HMPSA with pentaerythritol ester of disproportionated rosinHMPSA with pentaerythritol ester of hydrogenated rosinHMPSA with pentaerythritol ester of rosin and the order of 180°peeling strength was HMPSA with hydrogenated rosin pentaerythritol esterHMPSA with rosin pentaerythritol esterHMPSA with disproportionated rosin pentaerythritol ester.The holding power was all longer than 48 hours,the performance is outstanding.HMPSA with pentaerythritol ester of hydrogenated rosin is the widest for use temperature range.
