Abstract: The characteristic pigmentary disturbance of melasma motivates to seek aesthetic treatments. Objective: To analyze the clients and the treatment used for melasma in the Laboratory of Cosmetology and Aesthetics of Unisul, Tubarao, SC. Method: Retrospective exploratory data collection in Body and Facial Assessment Sheets from the years 2012 to 2017. From a sample of 1106 records obtained by census. Demographic variables, characteristics of the client, clinical condition and information of the treatment (s) were verified. Descriptive statistical analysis by Epi Info 3.5.4. Results: The prevalence of melasma was 5.7% (95% CI: 4.4-7.3%), of which 98.4% (95% CI: 91.5-100.0) were women, phototype between II and IV. Among those with melasma had used contraceptives, hormone replacement or had at least one pregnancy 71.4% (95% CI: 58.0-82.1%) and mentioned the daily use of sunscreen 56.5% (95% CI: 43.3-69.0). From the main complaint records of melasma 79.4% (IC95% 67.3-88.5) were found to contain treatment for melasma, most were combined 70.6% (95% CI: 56.2-82, 5), with an average of 2.8 ± 2.1 sessions, with almost total lack of recording of results 98.2% (95% CI: 90.4-100.0). Conclusions: It is considered relevant that the sheets provide fields for the most complete record on the use of sunscreen and treatment results. Moreover, it is considered appropriate to encourage clients to join the sessions because of inherent difficulty in treating melasma, since the resources adopted in the LCE are beneficial for treating melasma.
