The corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in 1.0M HCl by a hydro-acetonic mixture extract of date seeds (DS) was tested using potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). This work revealed that the mixture extract of DS studied acts as a mixed-type inhibitor, primarily controlling the anodic reaction. We found that the inhibition efficiency of DS increased with increasing concentration, reaching 94.164% at 2 g/L, and decreased with temperature. Increasing the concentration of the corrosion inhibitor enhances the surface coverage and formation of a protective film, which is proven by the results of immersion time. The mixture extract of date seeds (DS) was analyzed by the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) technique.
