How does cloud computing affect supply chain ambidexterity and performance? An empirical investigation

This paper aims to discuss how cloud computing plays a role in the supply chain, thus affecting supply chain ambidexterity, i.e. exploration and exploitation, to improve performance and explore the moderation role of competition uncertainty. Based on the Extended Resource-based view (ERBV), we empirically analyses the questionnaire data from 308 firms in China through PLS-SEM. The results show that cloud-related resources have significant positive effects on supply chain ambidexterity, and supply chain exploration and exploitation have a significant positive impact on supply chain performance. In addition, supply chain ambidexterity can to some extent mediate cloud-related resources and supply chain performance. This paper explains the mechanism of how cloud computing generates value in the supply chain from the perspective of supply chain ambidexterity and strengthens organisations' understanding of cloud computing and the supply chain.
