The authors have found in the study that gastrointestinal dysfunction score (GIDS) derived from several clinical evaluations may be helpful when evaluating critically ill patients about gastrointestinal dysfunction and can be used as a prognostic factor showing poor clinical outcomes in patients above. This tool may be used in clinical practice, especially to observe patients at risk of gastrointestinal intolerance and to categorize the patients in clinical trials.
