The glass transition temperature of polymeric sulphur

Pure polymeric sulphur free of dissolved S8 monomer is a semi-crystalline polymer with a Tg of 75°C. Quick-quenched (from 200°C) elastic sulphur, if maintained under conditions which prevent crystallization, is a solution of polymeric sulphur and S8 rings, both polymer and monomer being in an amorphous state. The Tg of this plasticized polymer is −30°C.
