ANTI-ELECTROLYTE PROPERTIES OF α-Al_2O_3-H_2O-POLYACRYLIC ACID SUSPENSIONS

The effect of electrolyte on the rheological behaviors of α-Al_2O_3-H_2O-polyacrylic acid suspension and the anti-electrolyte properties of the suspension were investigated. The experimental results show that at a pH value of 6.5 and with the addition of 0.5% (in mass) dispersant solution, the suspension exhibits poor flow behavior as the NaCl concentration increases, while when the NaCl concentration is in the range of 0.1 to 0.2mol/L, the rheological behavior remains almost unchanged with the change of electrolyte concentration. At different pH values the effect of electrolyte concentration on the minimum addition amount of polyacrylic acid and the anti-electrolyte property of the suspension vary remarkably. The acidic solution condition is favorable for preparing anti-electrolyte suspensions.
