Objective To evaluate the effect of chest compression before the defibrillation on the resuscitation of delayed ventricular fibrillation. Methods 69 patients were divided into two groups: chest compression before the defibrillation and direct defibrillation. The times and the total energy of defibrillation, the success rates of the first defibrillation, the rates of admission to the hospital and spontaneous circulation return (ROSC) were compared. Results Compared with direct defibrillation group, the patients of chest compression before the defibrillation had less times and total energy of defibrillation [4.8±2.3 vs 6.5±3.6,P0.05;(1250±320)J vs (1890±570)J,P0.01], the higher success rate of first defibrillation(28.6% vs 17.6%,P0.05),the higher rates of admission to the hospital (28.6% vs 11.8%,P0.05) and ideal ROSC. Conclusion Chest compression before the defibrillation will benefit the patients of ventricular fibrillation.
