Three molybdenum(Ⅵ) complexes with Schiff base derived from 2-picolinaldehyde N-oxide and a series of amino acid were synthesized by one step method and characterized by elemental analysis,IR spectra and thermal analysis. The results showed that molybdenum(Ⅵ) coordinated to the Schiff bases via O(N-oxide pyridine),N(Schiff base) and O(COO-) donors and formed stable complexes.Biological activity tests of the Schiff base and complexes evidenced that Schiff base could inhibit the sprout of green bean, while molybdenum(Ⅵ) complexes could promote it.These facts confirmed that Mo(Ⅵ) was active center.
