Research Progress of Rare Earth Conversion Coating on Zinc

The main research methods and processing procedures,as well as exploration of the film-formation mecha-nisms of rare earth conversion coatings on the surface of Zn were briefed. It was pointed out that rare earth conversion coatings could be used to improve the corrosion resistance of zinc,and the process for preparing rare earth conversion coatings had the ad-vantages such as environmental protection and high efficiency. Moreover,the advantages and disadvantages of the processes in different periods for preparing conversion coatings were summa-rized,and the development trend and application prospect of the rare earth conversion technology were discussed.
