In mid 2013,one strain of pseudorabies virus(PRV)was isolated from organs of dead piglets with symptoms of PRV-like infection, which were collected from a large-scale farms in Fujian Province,it was named PRV NP strain. The symptoms of PRV infection were characterized by nervous system disorders and deaths in newborn piglets as well as reproductive failure in sows.In addition, the PCR and sequencing results were consistent with expected results;PRV was able to propagate in MDCK cells and cause a typical cytopathogenic effect. The tissue culture infective dose(TCID50)was 10-9.13/0.1mL confirmed by the Reed-Muench methods. The typical pseudorabies clinical symptoms were presented in rabbits and mice inoculated with the isolated virus. These results demonstrated that a new wild pseudorabies virus has been isolated, which lay a foundation for the further research on the molecular epidemiology of pseudorabies virus.
