Synthesis of p-t-butyl-phenol over supported HPWA/SBA-15 catalyst

Using methyl t-butyl ether(MTBE) and phenol as feed materials and SBA-15 molecular sieve modified by tungstophosphoric acid(HPWA) as the catalyst,p-t-butyl-phenol was synthesized in a steel intermission reactor.The optimum condition was obtained as follows: reaction temperature 160 ℃,reaction time 3 h,the loading content of HPWA 30%,catalyst dosage 5% of feed material mass,n(MTBE)∶n(phenol)=2∶1.The experiments results showed that under the optimum condition the conversion of phenol and the selectivity of p-t-butyl-phenol were 85.1% and 66.87%,respectively.HPWA/SBA-15 catalyst showed higher catalytic activity and selectivity in the test.
