Establishment of lymphatic fistula of cervical chyliferous duct in rats

Objective To establish an animal model of lymphatic fistula from chyliferous duct in rats. Methods Sixty adult Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups (n=20 each) : cervical chyliferous duct (CC) group,left jugular trunk (LJT) group and abdominal chyliferous duct (AC) group. Animal models of lymphatic fistula were created in cervical chyliferous duct, left jugular trunk and abdominal chyliferous duct, respectively. Achievement ratio and flow rate of lymph were com-pared among these three groups, respectively. Results The characteristics of lymph fluid had no signifi-cant difference among these three groups. The achievement ratio of CC group was lowest among the three groups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the achievement ratio between LJT group and CA group. The flow rate of lymph in CC group was significantly larger than that of other two groups ( P < 0.05). Conclusion The animal model of lymphatic fistula in left jugular trunk drains lymph fluid stably, without disturbing abdominal cavity. It may have a relatively extensive scope to be utilized.
