The authors have investigated 27 organic solvents of different classes with boiling points ranging from 36 to 213 /sup 0/C upon introduction of the solvents into an inductively coupled plasma PV 8490 in the form of solutions of organometallic compounds and registration of the intensity of the analytical lines for the elements on the PV 8210 spectrometer. The authors have established that decane, pseudocumene, xylene, dodecane, and the acidified fraction of petroleum provide the maximum detection limits, high values of the sensitivity coefficient, and the best convergence between measurement results for the analytical signal and in the determination of Ag, Al, Cr, Fe, Ni, Pb, Si, Sn, V and Zn.
