This paper will give the definition of the galvanic cells and electromotive force (EMF) of galvanic cells and give the expression according to Nernst for calculating the electrode potential. Thermodynamics of galvanic cells and determination of the electromotive force of galvanic cells will be processed.The division of the galvanic cells and types of electrodes with an emphasis on the reference electrodes will be displayed.
