It is found that nucleic acids can greatly enhance the fluorescence intensity of morin-nanoTiO2. Under optimum conditions, the enhanced fluorescence intensity of the system is in proportion to the concentration of nucleic acids in the range of 2.0 9 10 -8 to 2.2 9 10 -7 gm L -1 for calf thymus DNA (ctDNA) and 1.0 9 10 -8 to 2.5 9 10 -7 gm L -1 for yeast RNA (yRNA). The detection limits are 4.8 9 10 -9 gm L -1 for ctDNA and 1.2 9 10 -9 gm L -1 for yRNA, respectively. This method has satis- factorily been used for the determination of nucleic acids in actual sample.
