Safety of autoclaved corn stalk.

Safety of autoclaved corn stalk was investigated by acute toxic test, mice micronules test, mice bone cell chromosomal aberration and back mutation of Styphimurium anxotroph. The results showed that the treated corn stalk was safe and had no toxic effect. Averagely 11.52 % of oligosaccharide, which can be used as a component of probiotics, was obtained from autoclaved corn stalk after further treated with cellulase.
