Catalytic Spectrophotometric Determination of Nitrite

A catalytic kinetic spectrophotometric method for the determination of nitrite is developed ,based on the oxidation of bromocresol green with KBrO_3 at 34～40℃ in 0.05 mol/L H_2SO_4 medium.The results show,at 35℃.The ΔA keeps constant during 10～16 min.The reaction time is 12 min in the determination of nitrite.At 35℃ the linear range and detection limit for nitrite are 0.02～1.2mg/L and 0.007mg/L.The method is applied to the determination of nitrite in waters with satisfactory results.
