Public‐Private Collaboration

Abstract This article provides an overview of relevant literatures to the topic of public-private collaboration. A documentation of the extent of private involvement in public undertakings is conducted, using a number of metrics. The article carefully distinguishes collaborative governance from the other categories of public-private interaction, in order to situate it on a spectrum of collective-action models. The article also probes into some of the dynamics of shared discretion in the pursuit of public goals.
