Recently, the technology related to microsatellites has been developed continuously, and more and more microsatellites are put into space mission accomplishment. The remote surveillance radar frequency band is often in the radar resonance region of tiny targets in space, so using the pole characteristics for space target identification has good development prospects. In this paper, the pole characteristics of complex targets are studied using principal component analysis combined with matrix beam method, and the main poles of complex targets are corresponded to their physical structures by analysing the polar variations of targets with small structural differences and targets with similar structures of different sizes. In addition, this paper makes the necessary experimental investigation for the application of pole characteristics to air and space scenarios by identifying minute-difference targets based on pole characteristics.
