Plants cope with salt stress through regulation of complex signal network. In recent years, much progress has been made in the research of signal transduction pathways in response to salt stress in plants with the development of plant genetic engineering. In this article, two types of signal transduction pathways modulating salt tolerance responses in plants are reviewed and discussed:Ca2+-dependent signal transduction pathway and mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signal transduction pathway, represented by Arabidopsis,in which the components participated in the signal transduction pathways and the corresponding salt tolerance responses are introduced, and the problems remained are discussed, finally the possible research directions in this field are proposed.
