The influences of volume fraction and particle size of SiC particulate reinforcements on the corrosion characteristics of SiC p/2024 Al matrix composites in 3.5%NaCl(mass fraction) aqueous solution were investigated with electrochemical method and immersion test; the corrosion resistance of 2024Al was also investigated for comparison. The results show that pitting susceptibility is about the same for the MMCs and their alloy. The corrosion resistance for the MMCs decreases, as the volume fraction increases or particle size reduces.
