Isomerization of diisopropylbenzene over zeolite catalysts

Isomerization of diisopropylbenzene was investigated over zeolite catalysts,i.e.HY,MCM-22,HZSM-5,MCM-41 and Hβ.The results showed that Hβ zeolite is a high-active catalyst for the reaction. The reaction conditions over Hβ were investigated. 1,4-DIPB conversion increased but the selectivity to 1,3-DIPB decreased with reaction temperature. 1,4-DIPB conversion of 45% and selectivity to 1,3-DIPB were attained at optimum condition of 170 ℃, 3.5 MPa, and 2 h~(-1). The catalyst also showed good stability.
