The effect of losartan on left ventricularhypertrophy induced by primary hypertension:with 56 cases report

Objective: To observe the effect of angiotensionⅡ receptor antagonist Losartan on left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) in primary hypertensive patients. Method: 56 cases of primary hypertension with LVH received Losartan(50mg,q.d.) for 4 months. Results: The total antihypertensive effective rate of Losartna was 90％ . At the same time,Losartan reduced left ventricular wall thickness,left vintricular mass weight,left ventricular mass weight index and A/E(P0. 01). Conclusion: Treatment with Losartan for 4 months may induce LVH regression,improve diastolic function. No severe side effects were found.
