In this paper temporal fading characteristics have been investigated for five different reception categories in a DVB-H system at 602 MHz in Ghent, Belgium. A method has been proposed to calculate the fade depth and the corresponding fade duration. Five reception categories have been defined and their fading characteristics have been compared. Categories with more traffic have more and deeper fades, but the duration of the fades seems to be independent of the reception category for the system under consideration. The number of fading occurences as a function of fade depth follow an exponential distribution.
