Reply to ‘‘Comment on ‘Raman spectra of (Bi,Pb)2Sr2CaCu2O8+ysingle crystals and the role of lead substitution’ ’’

It is pointed out here that though the site assignment of Pb ions in the n=2 phase of (Bi,Pb${)}_{2}$${\mathrm{Sr}}_{2}$${\mathrm{CaCu}}_{2}$${\mathrm{O}}_{8+\mathit{y}}$ is the same in our work as in the most recent paper of Sequeira et al. [Physica C 173, 267 (1991)], these authors' attribution of different sites to Pb in the n=2 and n=3 phase seems more questionable since it is not really consistent with results of published x-ray- and electron-diffraction experiments.
