Diagnostic values of ocular symptoms of the patients with carotid stenosis

AIM:To investigate the ocular symptoms of the patients with carotid stenosis and their predictive values.METHODS:The patients with carotid stenosis who had under-gone imaging examination were analyzed for their clinical data and ocular symptoms.The relationship between ocular symptoms and carotid stenosis was explored.RESULTS:Positive predictive value of ocular symptoms to carotid stenosis was 0.79 and negative predictive value was 0.75.In the 2 groups,the differences in the stenosis degree and the stenosis site were both significant(Z=-2.21,P=0.03;Z=-2.31,P=0.02).CONCLUSION:Ocular symptoms are significantly correlated with the site and degree of stenosis,so they are of high predictive value for the patients with carotid stenosis.
