Objective To investigate dynamic changes of head CT of hyperbaric oxygen(HBO)therapy in patients with acute carbon monoxide(CO) poisoning and select optimal treatment.Methods 85 patients with acute CO poisoning were divided into three groups: mild,moderate,and severe.All patients were treated with HBO therapy besides conventional treatment.Head CT was conducted on the 12th hour,the 1st week and the 1st month after the poisoning respectively followed by a follow-up of 6 months.Results The abnormal rate of head CT image was 36.5%(31/85) in the first scan and 51.8%(44/85) after a week.There were significant differences before and after a week(P0.05).In contrast,the rate dropped significantly to 34.1%(29/85) after one month of treatment(P0.05).The abnormal rate of head CT image of patients with delayed encephalopathy after carbon monoxide poisoning(DEACMP)(88.5%) was significantly higher than patients without DEACMP(35.6%)(P0.05).The total effective rate of HBO therapy on patients with acute CO poisoning was 96.5%,and the remarkable efficacy in patients without DEACMP(98.3%) was significantly higher than that in patients with DEACMP(61.5%)(P0.05).Conclusion Dynamic scan of head CT after acute CO poisoning favors the evaluation of poisoning and brain injury,and contributes to prognosis and clinical treatment.The curative effect of HBO therapy on patients with acute CO poisoning is significant.
