Incidence of esophageal cancer in Minqin county from 1998 to 2002

AIM: To study the feature and incidence of esophageal cancer in Minqin county,Gansu province.METHODS: Cases data of esophageal cancer incidence were collected from cancer's registered reports at hospitals in the county.RESULTS: The average crude incidence of esophageal cancer rate was 51.59/100,000 from 1998 to 2002.The sex ratio was 2.13 (males/females). There was remarkable difference in the male and female crude incidence (χ 2=36.48,P0.01).CONCLUSION: Minqin county is an area of high incidence of esophageal cancer. Great attention should be paid to the prevention and treatment of esophageal cancer.
