An Exploration of the Relationship between ‘Play’ and ‘Contents’ in 2019 National Nuri-Curriculum

본 연구는 유아·놀이 중심의 2019 개정 누리과정이 시행되면서 제기될 수 있는 다양한 논쟁 중에서 ‘놀이와 교육내용’의 연계성에 초점을 두어 살펴보았다. 전통적으로 유아교육과정에서는 ‘놀이’에 대한 교육과정과의 연계성을 교수·학습에 두는 경향이 높았으나, 개정 누리과정에서는 놀이를 ‘교육내용으로서 5개 영역’과의 연계성에 더 초점을 두고자 한 점에 주목할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 현재 시급히 요구되는 의제에 초점을 두는 이슈 페이퍼의 성격을 가지며, 개정 누리과정에서 가장 주목받는 놀이와 교육과정에서 가장 중요한 구성요소인 ‘교육내용’과의 관계를 시급한 의제로 선정하여 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 구체적으로는 첫째, 누리과정에서 교육내용이 무엇인지를 교육과정의 측면에서 살펴보고, 둘째, 유아의 놀이와 누리과정의 교육내용과의 연계성의 의미를 탐구하며, 셋째, 놀이와 5개 영역의 교육내용의 연계가 무엇인지 구체적 사례를 통해 살펴보고 있다. 무엇보다 놀이를 근간으로 개정 누리과정을 실행해 간다는 것은 국가 교육과정의 교육내용이 유아의 놀이 속에서 구현되어야 함을 의미하며, 5개 영역의 내용은 고정된 기준이 아니라, 유아의 놀이를 통해 생성되는 배움의 내용에 근거하여 교사의 넘나드는 의미 해석과 교육과정 문해력을 요구한다는 점을 논의하였다. 결론적으로 본 논문은 유아교육과정에서 유아의 놀이의 중요성을 논의하는 담론이 자칫 간과하기 쉬운 교육내용과의 중요한 연계성에서 논의되어야 한다는 점과, 이는 놀이를 단순한 방법론이 아닌 국가교육과정에서 가장 핵심적 구성요소인 교육 내용의 관계성에서 좀 더 본질에 충실하여 심화될 수 있음의 중요성과 시사점을 제안하였다.Nuri-Curriculum is a national early childhood curriculum for 3-5 young children in Korea, which has recently re-announced its direction toward ‘children and play centered’. This study explored the significant relationship between play and content knowledge in National Nuri-Curriculum. A critical analysis has done on the tendency of the early childhood curriculum which has often regarded play as the way of teaching and learning methods instead on connection with contents knowledge. In order to overcome this ambiguities tendency, this study firstly focused on exploring the significance of contents on the national curriculum; then tried to focusing on explanation why and what 2019 Nuri-Curriculum has newly slimed the contents knowledge. Sliming content knowledge is important process for manifestation of National Nuri Curriculum on early childhood fields at practical level. In addition, this study described concrete examples of children’s play in early childhood classrooms which has related to the 5 areas of contents in Nuri-curriculum. Finally, this study suggested that the practice of national curriculum must has to do the content knowledge on the paper of national curriculum with its manifestations on the fields, so thus the Nuri curriculum based on children’s play.
