To obtain the rotation characteristics of particles in bubbling fluidizing beds, the rotation process of particles in cold bubbling fluidizing beds was studied by a measurement system composed of a dual-frequency digital camera and a sheet laser. The results show that the average rotation speed increases with decrease of the particle size. There is a strong growing tendency for average rotation speed as the horizontal component of translational speed increases. The average particle rotation speed fluctuates when the vertical component velocity of particles increases. The particles with small vertical component speed generally show a slight decrease tendency than those with large vertical component speed. The average rotation speed of particles increases first and then decreases along x axis.
