In this paper, a novel active hybrid switchable rasorber (AHSR) is proposed, which provides switchable transmission and reflection frequency band, and hybridizing low-frequency absorption and high-frequency diffusion to reduce out-of-band radar cross section (RCS). The AHSR consists of a top polarization conversion (PC) layer, an intermediate lossy layer, and a bottom switchable layer. The PC layer can deflect the direction of high-frequency electromagnetic waves, achieving RCS reduction through diffusion. The lossy layer absorbs electromagnetic waves to reduce low-frequency RCS. The switchable layer can be tuned between the passband and the reflection band. The lossy layer contains four lumped resistors to implement the absorbing and the bottom layer consists of the PIN diodes to realize the switching properties. A noteworthy feature of this structure is that it can provide different operating states of absorption-transmission-PC (A–T–PC) frequency response with the relative bandwidth is 115% (below −10dB) and absorption-reflection-PC (A-R–PC) frequency response by switching the PIN diodes. A configuration is developed and validated, where the results are in good agreement with the simulations.
