Digital labor platforms have grown exponentially within the care sector during the last few years, with the pandemic as a turning point. The current study provides an analysis of this phenomenon from a feminist political economy and social reproduction approach. This allows exploring the reasons for the rise of this business model in the context of the current social care crisis, and to assess its labor regime by analyzing the reconfiguration of the exploitation processes taking place in it, which are particularly crossed by gender, class, race and migratory status. New empirical evidence on the labor conditions of women working for these platforms is provided, using the Spanish context as a case study and combining desk research and in-depth interviews conducted with workers, company representatives and key actors.
