摘要
Metal-air battery has a series of advantages such as abundant raw materials, safety, and environmental protection, and high energy density. It is called "new green energy facing the 21st century" and has good development and application prospects. Lithium-air batteries, in particular, have a specific high energy density of 11,700 Wh kg−1, almost as high as liquid gasoline. Since air (O2) can be supplied completely from the outside of the battery, the cathode material of the metal-air battery is essentially a catalyst to promote O2 reduction. In this chapter, the basic structure, energy storage mechanism, electrode material (especially the O2 reaction catalyst), and application prospects of Metal-air batteries are briefly reviewed.
