Artificial intelligence–derived dermatology case reports are indistinguishable from those written by humans: A single-blinded observer study

To the Editor: Generative artificial intelligence (AI) represents a relatively recent breakthrough in machine-learning. Sophisticated large language models (LLMs), such as OpenAI's ChatGPT (Generative Pretrained Transformer; OpenAI), have demonstrated a remarkable capacity to synthesize and communicate information in a manner that is challenging to distinguish from human-derived text.1 Broad public-access to such tools has revealed widespread utility across multiple disciplines, including medical writing.
