A dual-functional quinoline–coumarin receptor for the selective “turn-on” sensing of Cu 2+ ions: environmental monitoring and cancer cell studies

into water samples collected from various sources such as tap water and drinking water. Further, the cytotoxic effects of 6MeQOC and 6MeQOC-Cu2+ in HeLa (human cervical cancer cell line) and A549 (human lung cancer cell line) cell lines were studied using the MTT assay. Conclusively, the probe has dual applications, both environmental and biological. This work presents its extended utility in both the environmental and biological domains.
