Abstract The diiron α‐diimine complex (II) as well as its iPr‐N=CH‐CH=N(iPr) and 2,2'‐bipyridyl analogues react with the alkynes (I) to give the complexes (III), (IV) and (V) in yields varying form < 5% to 75% in dependence on the nature of the α‐diimine ligand and the alkyne used.
