Sulfadiazine(SD) was degraded by γ-radiation in an aqueous solution. The effects of initial concentrations of SD,pH values of solution,H2O2 and Fenton reagent on degradation of SD were investigated.Experimental results showed that SD can be effectively degraded by γ-irradiation in an aqueous solution. The degradation efficiencies of low-concentration SD can be remarkably improved in an acid solution. The degradation of SD was in accordance with the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. In addition,H2O2 can fairly promote degradation of SD induced by γ-radiation.Fenton reagent can markedly promote degradation of SD induced by γ-radiation.The degradation mechanism of SD was supposed by results of quantum chemical calculations and LC-MS.Degradation of SD induced by γ-radiation was mainly ascribed to OH oxidation.
