Synthesis of Tetrasubstituted Butenolide, Bromobeckerelide, by Regioselective Lithiation of Furan Followed by Photosensitized Oxygenation of α-Silylfuran

Abstract A straightforward synthesis of a tetrasubstituted halobutenolide, bromobeckerelide, was achieved by photosensitized oxygenation of a trisubstituted α-trialkylsilylfuran which was obtained by the introduction of desired substituents into a furan ring via regioselective lithiation.
