Image Fusion and its Denoisation by using a New Fusion Rule

Multimodal image fusion has a very vital role in medical application. Many transform techniques are there to decompose multimodal images into frequency domain and after some special treatments, the respective decomposed components are fused for achieving better information, less noise and better signal power in the fused image. Many fusion rules are already existing in literature. Image fusion rules suffer from spatial distortion, introduction of artifacts in fused image and high complexity. In this paper we proposed two separate fusion rules to fuse approximate coefficients and detail coefficients respectively. The performance parameters obtained by using the proposed fusion rule have been compared with the conventional fusion rule. The proposed fusion rule outperformed the conventional fusion rule, and denoised the fused image with a higher scale.
