Evaluation of Aegelin content in Bael Patra (Aegle marmelos): An Ayurvedic Medicinal Herb

Changes in plant constituents are genuine and important parameters to study in current era. Herbs can sense atmospheric variations to grow as per conditions. All herbs show presence of internal system to respond according to weather, temperature, rainfall, soil conditions and day length. Good quality medicines require proper harvesting of herbs. Currently all over the world, peoples suffered glycemic imbalance, an endocrine and metabolic disorder. Herbs are useful for cure from hundreds of years. Baelpatra, a medicinal plant, is used in ayurveda to cure hyperglycemia. The aim of study is to check changes in aegelin content in Bael, Aegle marmelos plant material obtained from authenticated source. Highest percentage of ethanol extract with higher concentration of aegelin was obtained in the winter season.
