Cost Analysis on Different Excavation Modes of Hard Rock Tunnels

At present,most of the mountain-crossing tunnels in China are constructed by manual excavation method,which can not satisfy the requirements of rapid tunnel excavation due to its low mechanization and automatization level.Based on the experience in the construction of a tunnel,the authors introduce the equipment matching for manual excavation and excavation by double drilling jumbos respectively and present the smooth blasting technology.The authors summarize the time required by each excavation step of manual excavation and excavation by double drilling jumbos respectively and estimate the time required by each step of excavation made by single drilling jumbo mode.Therefore,the authors calculate and analyze the cost of different excavation modes.Finally,the authors conclude that lower cost and less time are needed for excavation by drilling jumbos,which is favorable for rapid tunnel driving.
