After acute myocardial infarction, ischemia or the increase of ventricular wall tension causes left ventricle secretion of large amounts of NT-proBNP, the level of which may indicate left ventricle systolic and diastolic dysfunction, ventricle remodelling, judge prognosis and risk stratification of acute myocardial infarction. Researchers are investigating whether the value can guide treatment of myocardial infarction.
