Laser Ablation by the Enhanced Longitudinal Electric Field of a Tightly Focused Radially Polarized Beam

Single-shot laser ablation by the longitudinal electric field of a radially polarized beam is demonstrated. The longitudinal field can be significantly enhanced at the rear surface of a transparent material by total reflection.
